1963 B - $1 Federal Reserve Note New York - Granahan - Barr - Fr. # 1902-B PCGS 67 Superb Gem New
A $1 Federal Reserve Note from 1963 known as a "Barr Note". These are probably the most famous of all $1 Federal Reserve Notes. They were issued in the final month of President Lyndon Johnson's administration. LBJ had announced he would not run for reelection in 1968 because of his unpopular handling of the Viet Nam War. Cabinet members began to bail out after Republican Richard Nixon won the election in November 1968. The Treasury needed a Secretary so LBJ appointed Joseph W. Barr who held office for 28 days.
